Sustainability
Being a world-class cachaça that meets the highest global quality standards is a premise so vital as Blu’s commitment to preserve sustainable agriculture.
Zero-waste philosohy
All practices of manufacturing cachaça Blu are based upon a zero-waste philosophy which means all residual components are re-used as compost.
Leftovers
Starting by milling, what’s left from the bagasse has three different destinations: livestock feed, compost to create manure for sugarcane fields and fuel for the boiler.
Natural Fertilizer
Once the fermentation and distillation processes are over, all waste left in the form of vinasse is then stored and afterwards sprayed on the sugarcane fields as a fertilizer.
Compost
Yeast leftovers are used to feed cattle or even mixed with vinasse. These, as well as the manure generated by the farm animals, are mixed with sugarcane bagasse to make compost.
Reforestation
As of the boiler, this can be fueled either with bagasse or wood from reforestation. Once the ashes come out, they are mixed with vinasse with the purpose to serve as fertilizer.
Solar panels
On top of all this, solar panels are plenty throughout the whole property which guarantee the farm and all sorts of equipment and premises with clean energy.
Grateful to the nature
Being considerate and grateful to nature with the long-term in mind: principles which will always uphold every step Cachaça Blu takes.
